Ginny Peterson: The Art of Reinvention
There’s a poster in Ginny Peterson’s office that features an illustration by Mary Engelbreit—a whimsical image of a little girl potting a young plant. Below it is a quote by George Eliot: “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.” Ginny often chuckles at the irony of the quote being attributed to George Eliot, the pen name of Mary Ann Evans, a bold and unconventional Victorian-era writer who defied expectations in her own life. The illustration, paired with those powerful words, perfectly captures Ginny’s philosophy: life is full of endless possibilities, and reinvention is always an option.
At 69 years old, Ginny is no stranger to reinvention. In fact, it’s practically her superpower. “I am constantly reinventing myself - I’ve held myriad jobs and even a few different careers in my 69 years. I’m in the middle of a reinvention right now. Stay tuned!”
Her journey hasn’t followed a traditional path, and that’s precisely what makes her story so inspiring. Despite leaving college early and spending two decades as a stay-at-home mom and homeschooling pioneer, Ginny didn’t let her ambitions fade. She created a thriving career in Marketing and Public Relations, eventually launching her own agency over 20 years ago. Throughout the years, she’s adapted to the fast-paced world of communications, leading local and statewide networks of PR professionals and serving businesses, nonprofits, and associations across a variety of industries.
For Ginny, life is a tapestry of seasons, each bringing its own challenges and opportunities. Her proudest season, of course, is motherhood. She can’t help but laugh as she cheekily admits, “My children!” when asked about her greatest accomplishments. But Ginny’s story goes far beyond family life. Her professional achievements, her resilience in navigating life’s twists and turns, and her ongoing pursuit of personal growth are proof that a woman’s legacy is rich and multifaceted.
Today, Ginny is dreaming bigger than ever. She’s honing her copywriting skills to better serve her clients, diving into personal development books to make the most of this new chapter, and exploring a fresh vision for her company, Simply Inspired. She envisions transforming her years of experience in business and life into a platform for coaching and consulting—helping others find both professional success and personal fulfillment. “In other words, she says “I am dreaming of becoming what I might have been. George Eliot would be proud.”
And so would we all. Ginny Peterson’s story reminds us that reinvention isn’t a one-time event—it’s a lifelong practice. No matter where you are or what you’ve been through, there’s always time to dream, to grow, and to embrace the endless possibilities of life.
