Martha Trice: Peace, Power, and the Woman She’s Become

Martha Trice has spent her life saying "yes" to opportunity, embracing each new chapter with courage and determination. A lifelong musician, she built a career performing and teaching, using her voice and talent to inspire others. But when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at 64, she found herself facing a new kind of challenge—one that required an even deeper reinvention.

Rather than letting fear take over, Martha chose to fight, to live fully, and to push forward with a new sense of purpose. A conversation with a friend sparked an idea she couldn’t shake—real estate. Though she had spent her life in music, something inside her said, "You have to do this." At 65, she and her son Travis enrolled in real estate school together, taking an intensive one-week course and earning their licenses. It was a bold, unexpected pivot, but one that gave her a renewed sense of drive and direction. Since then, she has built a thriving real estate career alongside her son, proving that reinvention is always possible.

Music has remained a constant in her life. From performing professionally with a nationally touring group in her early years to traveling with her husband in a band, her voice has taken her around the world. Though she once wondered if she should have pursued a formal music degree, she ultimately realized that her career unfolded exactly as it was meant to. Her willingness to step into opportunities allowed her to do what so many dream of—using her gifts in meaningful ways, regardless of traditional paths.

Of all her accomplishments, she considers adopting her son, Travis, to be the most profound. After years of struggling with infertility, she received a life-changing phone call on Mother’s Day, offering her the chance to adopt a baby boy. It was a moment of divine timing, a reminder that life has a way of opening doors in unexpected ways. Now, decades later, she cherishes not only her son but also her grandchildren and the family they have built together.

Martha’s journey has been one of resilience, faith, and a relentless pursuit of purpose. Even when cancer returned after four years, she continued to prioritize living with intention. She has learned the importance of setting boundaries, balancing her health with her ambitions, and knowing when to step back. Her story is a testament to the power of saying "yes"—to new dreams, to second chances, and to the beautiful, unpredictable journey of life.
